Irish mobile firm raises €2.5m

Dublin-based mobile services company Zamano has raised €2.5m via a share placing to fund the development of its smartphone application, advertising and to reduce its debt.

The Irish Stock Exchange and AIM-listed company, which also has offices in London, placed 13.8 million new shares with Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund, representing 14.6% of the company’s share capital.

The €75m fund invests in small and mid-sized Irish businesses and is part of Enterprise Ireland’s Seed & Venture Capital Programme 2007-2010.

Zamano, which was set up in 2000 by the now-departed Sean Mac Reamoinn, Eoin O Ceallachain and Darren O Rodaigh, offers mobile messaging, billing, applications and WAP services to businesses seeking to engage with customers by mobile.
