1.     Click the ‘Login’ button on the top right hand side of the homepage. Log in using the email address and password you have registered with or if you have not registered, please do so before continuing.

 
2.     Click the ‘Upload’ button on the top of the page

 
3.     Click the ‘Create a New Pitch Now’ button. Select the kind of video you wish to upload from the Pitch grid. Then click the ‘Next’ button.

 
4.     You will arrive at the ‘Create my Pitch’ page. Fill in the form using the ‘Help’ definition section on the right hand side of the form.

 
5.     In the ‘Your Video’ section of the form, you can upload your completed video or record a video using a webcam.

 
6.     At the bottom of the page is the ‘Save and Preview’ button which you can click if you wish to see how your profile and video will look. Once you are happy with the profile and video of your pitch, click the ‘Submit’ button to complete the process.

A: cmypitch.com is an online community for entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs.  The website is currently in beta. It uses video to connect businesses to sources of funding, advice, opportunities and services. The website has seven channels: Start-ups; SMEs; Businesses for Sale; Business Opportunities; Entrepreneur TV and a Business Directory. All the channels use video to bring business to life.

Q: What does ‘beta’ mean?

A: Our current focus is on the UK however we have international expansion plans for the near future.

A: The pitches are rated and reviewed by our users. cmypitch.com retains the right to delist a pitch if appropriate.

Member Profiles

Q: Why should I register my profile on this website?
A: By doing so, you can join the cmypitch.com community, have access to the Information Centre, watch videos and rate and review them on the website.

Q: How do I register my profile online?
A: On the homepage, click the red ‘Register’ button which is located on the top right hand corner.

Q: Is there a charge to register online?
A: No.

Q: Which part of my profile will be available for other users to see?
A: A limited profile will be available to see. However, registered users can make a request you to view your profile in full.

Q: What do I do if I have forgotten my password?
A: On the homepage, click the ‘Login’ button. On the login page, click on ‘Forgotten Password’, and then type in the email address you use to login and click the ‘Reset Password’ button. A new password will be emailed to your registered email address.

Q: Can I change my profile and pitch after registering?
A: Yes. Log into the website, click on the ‘My Account’ tab, and then click the ‘Edit my Profile’ or ‘Edit my Company Profile’ buttons as required.

Making the Video

Q: How do I make my video?
A: The video can be made using a webcam or video camera. Alternatively, you can hire a video freelancer or a production company to produce a more professional version.

Q: How do I find a video production company for my pitch?
A: You can submit a lead on the website. Up to three video production companies will then contact you. Please see the ‘Find an Advisor’ section. Alternatively, you can search in our ‘Business Directory’ channel under “video production companies”.

Q: How much will the production of the video cost?
A: You can contact a number of video production companies via the cmypitch.com website who will discuss the costs.

Q: Where can I access guidelines for the preparation of my pitch?
A: Please see the ‘Video Tips’ tab at the bottom of the website or click here to view the pitch guidelines.

Q: How long should my pitch be?
A: We recommend that a pitch should be no more than two minutes in duration.

Q: Can there be more than one person presenting the pitch?
A: Absolutely. You can also use images and music if you think this adds value to your pitch.

Uploading the Video

Q: How do I upload my video onto the website?
A: Please follow these instructions

Q: What is the maximum size of the video that can be uploaded onto the website?
A: The video can be up to 9MB.

Q: What format of videos and photos can be uploaded onto the website?
A: Photos can be in the format of .JPEG and .GIF. Videos can be in the format of MP4, 3GP, AVI, MPG, .MPEG .MOV, .WM, RM, FLV and DV.

After Uploading the Video

Q: Who will watch my video?
A: All the videos on the website are publicly viewable, except the videos in the ‘Find Funding’ section. Only sophisticated investors and ‘high net worth’ individuals have access to these videos.

Q: Can I upload a different video if I am not happy with the current one?
A: Absolutely. You can log in to access your profile and change the video at any time.

Q: For how long is my video kept on the website?
A: For entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs, it is three months. For Franchisore, business opportunity owners, advisors and service providers, it is 12 months.

Q: Can I place more than one video on the website?
A: Each product you purchase allows you to upload a single video. Members of the Business Directory can post unlimited content in the Information Centres.

Q: Who owns the rights to the video?
A: You own the content of the video as stated in the Terms and Conditions of the website. cmypitch.com owns the right to use the video when it is published on the website.

Q: Can I claim a refund if I withdraw my video?
A: Once you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions of the website and have uploaded your video, there is no refund.

Q: The videos will not play on my computer, so what should I do?
A: It’s likely that there’s something wrong with your web browser or internet connection, or you may need to download Flash player. Please contact your IT administrator or internet provider for further assistance.

Q: What are the criteria for pitches shown in this section of the website?
A: We recommend that prior to uploading your pitch onto cmypitch.com that your business plan is reviewed by a professional advisor. The minimum investment sought must be greater than £25,000.

Q: What kind of finance is available from the website?
A: Equity Finance, not debt finance.

Q: What is Equity Funding?
A: When a start-up or an existing company requires additional capital, the owner can sell shares in their business to an investor who in return receive ownership interest in the company.

Q: Who are the investors?
A: The Investors include individual Business Angels, Investment Funds, Business Angels Networks, Venture Capitalists and Private Equity houses.

Q: Why would they use this website when they have their own contacts and resources?
A: cmypitch.com is a national website and therefore will be a useful tool to source investment opportunities. Investors will be able to screen opportunities quicker because of video.

A: Registered members of the website can view the contents of the Information Centre.

Q: How can I contribute to it?
A: You must have a premium listing in our Business Directory.

Q: Will the copyright of my documents be protected?
A: The copyright is owned by the author of the document. As per Terms and Conditions on the website. cmypitch.com will be granted a royalty free licence to publish the document at your discretion. You may remove the document from your profile at any time.

Q: Do I need to pay to use the resources available in the Information Centre?
A: No, the Information Centre is free to use for registered users of the website.

A: For an entrepreneur, buying into a franchise can be an easy, and sometimes, a more economically viable way into business. Franchises can be much more successful than start-ups due to the fact franchisees buy an existing business model.
