FindsYou.com - As secure and as private as you decide!

Tue 10 Jun 2008 |

FindsYou.com has hauled the wanted ad into the 21st century. Buyers post a one-off “want” ad, sit back and wait for sellers to come to them, and voila: a reverse search engine is made. By allowing the buyers themselves to widen the market, FindsYou.com aims to level the playing field: with its search results determined by relevance rather than SEO, all buyers, irrespective of size and revenue, can compete on product, price and service alone.

Launched in 2008 and pioneered by Guy Walker, formerly the CFO of the Interpublic Group, and Adrian Cox, former UK and European chief exec of Ask Jeeves, the site is an open system: benefits go to the lead. “Eventually, we are hoping to introduce a micro-subscription, but this breaks with convention as it won’t be on a transactional basis,” says founder Guy Walker. In fact, FindsYou.com prides itself on being different: “The algorithm we use is the human brain. The seller decides if he can help so the buyer doesn’t get bombarded with partial matches.”

Although currently only focused on the automotive and housing markets – including an alliance with What Car – users are free to introduce new categories. The user experience is firmly at the forefront of Walker’s mind: “There’s no advertising on the site, there are no hidden fees, and the users’ data belongs to them. In short, we’re not doing any sleight of hand; we’re just being fleet of foot.”
